Hi! I'm a French and English secondary school teacher in the north east. I love making my own resources, especially ones which will stand the test of time - and I hope you love them, too. I do take requests for resources, so please send me an email if there's anything you'd like to see! You can reach me at: hannahhousam@gmail.com

A series of 7 lessons designed to build students’ capabilities with creative and descriptive writing. Can be used with able students at KS3 or struggling students at KS4.
Each lesson follows a structured learning path with a quick quiz to start students off and a reflective self-evaluation to end the lesson. Photo-prompt lessons include links to video soundscapes to enliven pupils’ imaginations and aid with sensory description. Photo prompts are used regularly to mimic the AQA GCSE creative writing task and to stimulate discussion.
Each lesson is based around bright, vibrant, attractive PowerPoints designed to engage even the most disenchanted students. All activities are differentiated to support the weakest and challenge the strongest students in your classes.
The pack contains the following:
Lesson 1: Show Don’t Tell. Explaining and practising the art of describing, not listing details. Includes 1 resource for group planning.
Lesson 2: Show Don’t Tell 2. Building on last lesson to include a range of language devices in our writing.
Lesson 3: Sensory Description. Building on the use of language devices to focus students’ attention on the 5 senses.
Lesson 4: Emotive Language 1. Includes 2 resources for model answer analysis.
Lesson 5: Emotive Writing 2 - Peer Assessment. Contains a peer assessment grid.
Lesson 6: Semantic Fields
Lesson 7: Class Assessment. The culmination of the unit, where all the techniques studied are used to create an emotive piece of writing.
